Necessity, Identity And Conceptual Structures

In the present work a modest attempt has been made towards an understanding of 'necessity' and to address some of the issues and questions raised by philosophers connected with this modal notion. A somewhat detailed examination of the so called analytic theory and linguistically oriented conventionalist explanation of necessity has been done here. The problems regarding essentialism are discussed and two separate chapters are devoted to the consideration of the combinations of necessary a posteriori and the contingent a priori, attempting to show their implausibility.
